Invitation to apply

Fellow Iberia Toastmasters members
The moment has arrived!
You are invited to present your application or to nominate someone to become a District Officer for the year 2019-2020.

Positions
The positions available at the moment (bare in mind that this may change until March 30th 2018) are the following:

Qualifications and Responsibilities

By appointed positions we mean that you can submit your application and, if after going through all the steps (please check here), you are considered to fill that position then the elected District Director for 19/20 may ratify it. And this means you will not have to go through the election process.
By elected positions we mean that you can submit your application and, if after going through all the steps (please check here), you are considered as a candidate for that position you will have to go through the election process (please check here).
Please note that Iberia Toastmasters is growing and until the end of March more positions might open for Area or Division Director. We advise you to talk to your current leaders, be attentive to the District webpage and also to the Newsletter.

Application Procedure

I. Appointed Positions

  1. Download all the documents
  2. Check your “Requirements for office” on Section II of the Candidate Application Form.
  3. Complete form 1. Candidate Application
  4. Complete form 2. District Leader Nomination Form. You may ask other people to submit this form in your behalf or you can do it yourself.
  5. Read and sign form 5. Officer Agreement and Release Form
  6. Write a short bio on the form (instructions on Form 6. Biography)
  7. Prepare a headshot photo with good quality. (Form 7. Photo)
  8. After completed, scan all the documents and send them with the photo and the bio to the following e-mail address dlc107.1819@gmail.com
  9. You will receive a reply from the Committee confirming the good reception of your application. In case some document or data is missing you will be given a notice and a deadline for you to present it. If you miss that deadline your application will be removed and in case you wish to maintain it you will have to send all the documents again.
  10. By the end of january you will be contacted to schedule an interview with two of the DLC members. This interview will take around one hour.
  11. After April 5th you will be notified of the result of the process. If your name was voted by the Committee for the position you applied, the DLC Chair will contact you to reconfirm your willingness to be nominated and your commitment to fulfill the duties of office. If you say yes, you only have to wait for the Elected District Director to ratify that nomination and you will take the role from July 1st 2019. It’s on the elected District Director discretion to ratify or not the nominations from the DLC.

If your name was not voted by the Committee to be nominated we will personally let you know by e-mail. In case you have any questions we will be available to reply within our knowledge and possibilities.

II. Elected Positions

If your name was voted by the Committee to that position you will be included in the candidates’ list for the election that will take place in Barcelona on May 25th during the District Council Meeting. (Please check below the Campaign and Election process).

If your name was not voted by the Committee to be nominated you will not be included in the candidates’ list for the election but you still have the possibility to be nominated from the floor (Please check the Election Process below).

Election Process

On May 4th the District Leadership Committee Report will be send out to all District Council members (District Officers and Club Presidents and VP Education from all D107 Clubs).
The Candidates’ names for each position will be announced with a photo and the biography you sent.

Campaign Process

According to Protocol 9.0. District Campaign and Elections, Point 6. A. states “A campaign communication is any message, in any form (such as phone calls, postal mail, email and facsimile) unsolicited by the recipient that promotes or publicizes a candidate.”
You will be allowed to send two communications during the Campaign period only to the voting District Council Members.
